Housing Our Members

Sigma Kappa provides a number of housing options to our collegiate members: chapter houses, lodges, and suites. Each type
of housing is managed by either a corporation board, a property committee, or decorating committee. Sigma Kappa offers support and guidance to each type of property management. The responsibility falls either under a corporation coordinator or corporation liaison depending upon participation in the NHC. All Sigma Kappa chapters not having a local corporation board or property committee were made participators in the National Housing Corporation in 1994, when the NHC was incorporated. The participation of a local corporation in the NHC is by mutual agreement of both parties.
National Housing Corporation
The NHC is an independent legal entity established by the national organization in 1994 as a response to the growing need to move local corporations away from the collegiate chapter to protect property from liability as much as possible, for greater financial resources, and professional management of sorority property. In addition to providing much needed services to ease the burden on local corporation personnel, a benefit of the NHC is the pooling of assets to enable participating corporations to have the ability to finance housing projects.
The NHC has three types of property management that they oversee. They are house corporations, property committees, and decorating committees. To visit the NHC website, click here.
Non-Participators
Corporations that do not participate in the NHC are overseen by a corporation liaison who is appointed by the Sorority. These corporations are separate legal entities.
